Innovation Group
Operations research, economics and code
We adapt to your platforms. We learn fast, and we adapt faster.
The team
The group brings master's and PhD-level training in analytics, economics, operations research and machine learning. Its technical lead, Mathias Brandewinder, served on the board of the F# Software Foundation and wrote Machine Learning Projects for .NET Developers.
That training comes with 20+ years of quantitative work across biotech, manufacturing, supply chain and consulting, so we can bring a method that worked in one industry to a problem in yours.
We use F# to explore data and to build the core of a model, because the same code can grow into a production app, which keeps the path from idea to software short.
Where ideas went
- 2000s
VINLogic
A 6-hour logistics model rebuilt as a 20-minute app. It convinced us the future was in apps as well as models.
- 2020s
Edge apps
Line-side tools that coach operators in real time. See Edge & IIoT.
- 2024
A spinoff
Ideas that became products moved to ChiAha, so SDI could stay focused on client work.
Your platforms, our methods
What you already run
Python and R, Power BI and Tableau, KNIME and Databricks, AWS and Azure, and Siemens enterprise software.
The math we blend
- Machine learning and AI, such as quality prediction shown on operator dashboards
- Optimization and statistics for complex decisions
- Simulation, including the discrete rate method we started
- Hybrids that combine these in one application
Why we like F#
It is as simple as Python, with the correctness and performance you want in production. Analysts get interactive data exploration, and the same code can carry the heart of the model into a finished app.
It reaches web, cloud, data science and apps, and it is free to license.
Tell us your problem
What would happen if you changed it?
Describe the decision in front of you. We'll tell you whether a model can answer it, and what it would take.
- A straight answer on whether simulation is the right tool
- Which tool fits, even if it isn't one we use every day
- A rough scope and timeline, before any commitment
