Decision apps used by 15,000+ people a day
After VINLogic, a long-time consumer packaged goods client asked us to build a production-loss application for its plants around the world. It is now used by more than 15,000 people a day, most of them plant staff.
Who keeps it running
That work runs under long-term service agreements, with our own developers maintaining and extending the apps year after year.
What we build with
- .NET, C# and F# for the engine and back end; F# for the models, C# for integration.
- Desktop and web front ends: WPF, Blazor and JavaScript, chosen for who uses the app and where.
- Your systems: SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics ERP; MES, SCADA and historians; SQL Server, Oracle and cloud databases.
- Your sign-in: Active Directory, SAML or OAuth, with access set by role.
- Your reporting: results that land in Power BI or Tableau when that is where people already look.
- Where it runs: Windows, Linux, Azure, or a mix of cloud and your own servers.
Built for apps people depend on every day
An app that plants rely on has to stay up, stay secure and keep changing without getting in anyone's way.
| Security | Role-based access through your own sign-in. Security scanning and vulnerability management. Separate spaces for different business units on one app. |
| Reliability | Load balancing for heavy use. Performance monitoring, so we catch problems early. Disaster recovery and business continuity planning. |
| Updates | Automated unit, integration and user acceptance tests. Continuous integration and deployment pipelines. Releases with no downtime for the people using the app. |
How we engineer them
- Clean separation of concerns, so apps stay maintainable and testable as they grow.
- Stateless design that holds up when many people use the app at once.
- Compile-time safety that cuts production errors and improves code quality.
- Legacy modernization, including data migration, that brings existing systems up to date.
- APIs that connect the app to your other enterprise systems.
From a pilot team to the whole company
- Grow the user base from a pilot group to the entire enterprise
- Tune performance for thousands of people at once
- Add features based on how people actually work
- Train users and support adoption during rollout
Value that lasts for years
- Keep improving from user feedback
- Keep the technology current as platforms change
- Stay aligned with what the business needs now
- Use app usage data to see where the value is
Tell us your problem
What would happen if you changed it?
Describe the decision in front of you. We'll tell you whether a model can answer it, and what it would take.
- A straight answer on whether simulation is the right tool
- Which tool fits, even if it isn't one we use every day
- A rough scope and timeline, before any commitment
